Parental and Public Involvement

A recent innovation in education is the public/private partnership that brings together a school and a sponsoring business or company to help fund a program or other special project. We need to encourage public/private partnerships that award scholarships to students and reward outstanding schools.

Companies that hire the products of Tennessee schools already have a stake in the quality of the output. Let’s get them involved on the front end of the education system.

Parental involvement is also crucial to a child’s success in the classroom. Some states, such as Arizona, ask local education associations to adopt a parental involvement plan that addresses cooperation in homework, attendance, and discipline. We should not ask teachers to shoulder the entire burden of a top-flight education.
