Donna believes that the citizens of the 34th District deserves a
legislator who will represent their views on the many important issues
facing our state. She will represent their views by strongly opposing a
state income tax, and by supporting efforts to reform wasteful spending.
Here are some of Donna's statement about four important issues:
- No State Income Tax in Tennessee!
I will never support a state income tax, and furthermore, I will fight
to reduce taxes every chance I get.
- Reforming TennCare
One of the biggest strains on Tennessee's budget is TennCare. I would
start reforming TennCare by setting coverage limits, I would insist on
generic drugs, I would remove felons and out-of-state residents from the
rolls, and I would stop TennCare from being a secondary insurance when
private insurance maxes out. No state sponsored healthcare program
should be better than the average employee's private insurance plan.
- Education in Tennessee
As a legislator, I will insist that money going to education be spent at
the classroom level, not spent on creating bigger administration, and
bureaucracy. I will support alternative education, and any other program
that returns education to teachers parents
- Small Business in Tennessee
The small business owner is the heart of our economy as well as our
community, and is directly responsible for putting food on our tables.
Small business pay more than their fair share of taxes, fees, and
licenses, yet bear the brunt of every new government program. I will
fight to preserve the right of small businesses, encourage them to be
creative, and promote new industry. We must tell government to stay out
of the pockets of small business owners because as they flourish, we
will all flourish.
