Fellow
Tennesseans:
We are humbled and honored that the
voters of Tennessee chose to make Republicans the majority party in the
Tennessee House of Representatives for the first time since 1869. We
take the responsibilities that come with this opportunity very seriously,
and we are ready for the challenge.
Tennessee voters asked for change in
government, and they expect to see a more transparent and accountable way of
conducting business. Voters have put their trust in us, and we are
committed to showing it does matter who governs. A new day has dawned
on our state, and we are looking forward to the opportunity that the
citizens of Tennessee have given us to bring about a positive change in
state government.
The first step to bringing about this
change is to make the process of selecting our state's three constitutional
officers more open to the public. Below you will find information
about these positions - Comptroller, Secretary of State and Treasurer - and
instructions on the application process to be considered as a candidate for
these positions.
Unlike most other states, these
positions in Tennessee are not elected by the public but are elected by a
vote of all state legislators. We want to solicit your applications
and your comments, and we appreciate your input as we open up this process
to ensure we select the most qualified candidates for these positions.
Thank you.
